SPA Wins Arbitration Case

The Stamford Paramedic Association announces that an arbitrator has ruled in its favor in a recent case. The case, which involved an employee who was suspended based on allegations of "criticizing" the decisions of hospital management, was determined to have been an unjust punishment.  The complainant, who wished to remain anonymous, was never available for the accused to question; as a result there was no ability to determine the facts of the case directly from the complainant or to evaluate their motives.  No corroborating evidence was presented to support the discipline.  Stamford EMS was found to be liable to "make whole" the union brother who lost two days' pay over the grievance for the day of the suspension and the day of the hearing.  Furthermore, all record of the suspension has been purged from his file.  This is a great example about how YOUR union provides for fairness and equity in the workplace.
